Drumcondra native Claire Garvey has been designing Nile’s clothes since 2013.

NILE RODGERS HAS spent a ridiculous amount of time in Ireland over the last couple of years.

It feels like we don’t go more than a couple of months without a Chic gig, but nobody is complaining.

During his time here, Nile Rodgers has been making some friends, including Irish designer and Drumcondra native Claire Garvey. Garvey started making clothes for Nile Rodgers back in 2013 when he appeared on The X Factor.

Last year Claire told Independent.ie that all of her success was thanks to Nile Rodgers, who continues to wear her pieces. He even got Claire to hook him up for Bette Midler’s Halloween party (which we will assume is an amazing affair, considering Midler’s iconic role in Hocus Pocus).

Claire’s shop is based on Cow’s Lane in Temple Bar, a premises where she has been working since 2000.

She was the first tenant in that area of Temple Bar and has recently purchased the shop. To celebrate purchasing the store, she relaunched the shop with a her latest menswear collection. She did so on the same date (25th of October) as Chic’s Dublin gig.

Of course, Nile managed to stop by. Claire told the guests:

I’m delighted Nile made the time in his busy schedule to celebrate with me, it means a lot to have him here for the launch of my latest men’s collection as he was the inspiration for me venturing into menswear.

Claire’s first major work in menswear was for Nile’s appearance on The X Factor. Following the relaunch, Nile took to Twitter to write “I love all our clothing from you Claire. You’re an amazing artist. Good luck with the new shop.”
